Vintage Writing Slope – Mahogany (circa 1850)
This, over 170 year old, writing slope features a beautiful, aged Mahogany construction. The built in compartments allow for easy sorting of all your correspondence needs.
Discover the hidden compartments beneath the hinged writing surface—a thoughtful addition for storing pens, inkwells, and stationery essentials. This allows for you to stay organised and maintain a clutter-free workspace, adding a practical touch to the allure of this writing slope.
On the one half of the writing slope, you will find the original ink bottle (this will need new cork to function properly), as well as the smallest of the three compartments built for storing you pens. The larger, hidden compartment will fit some A5 paper and some taller writing accessories, perfect for those who love wax stamps, and want to take their letter writing game to the next level.
The second half has only one, hidden, compartment, the largest of the three. This compartment is primarily for all your papers and comfortably fits papers A5 in size, and even slightly larger.
Unfortunately this box no longer has the original key, making it more of a permanent desk accessory than a truly portable writing desk as it was originally made to be. Don’t, however, let this dissuade you from what is otherwise a stunning yet functional piece of history.
