TWSBI Diamond 580 – Clear
The TWSBI Diamond 580 is a piston filling pen. This means that you don’t need a converter to use bottled ink with this pen. Instead, dipping the nib into a bottle of ink and turning the piston knob will suck ink directly into the body. This gives the pen an enormous ink capacity, and makes refilling the pen quite an enjoyable activity.
The body of this pen is faceted in an aesthetically pleasing diamond pattern. This is where the “Diamond” in the name comes from. Apart from being a beautiful design, the clear body also makes it very to tell how much ink is left at a glance. Additionally, it’s great for showing off brightly coloured inks. The Diamond 580 also features metal accents on the cap, grip section, and around the piston knob. The steel nib is smooth and quite wet, and matches these accents well. These details make for a pen that looks great and performs just as well.
Additionally, if you’re a fan of this pen, you will love the TWSBI Diamond 50 ink bottle. After removing the nib, the Diamond 580 fountain pen can be attached directly to this bottle. This makes it very easy to achieve a complete fill.

This pen is amazing! The faceted barrel is addictive to look at – specially in the sun, with a light coloured ink sloshing inside. The nib is also fantastic, nice and smooth with a touch of feedback. Really can’t recommend it enough.

Stunning pen in every way. The barrel is superb to hold and behold, and the nib is the smoothest I’ve yet come across. I can’t recommend it enough!

TWSBI just blew my mind…
the pictures i viewed on the internet made the pen look cheap (materials and also reviews). i hesitated a lot to buy it but the piston filler at that price got me.
when it arrived i was really surprised at how good that pen looks and feels. it feels solid and heavy (i prefer a heavy pen) not cheap at all. next thing that hit me hard was the nib: coming from a Lamy Safari and Lamy CP1 i thought all steel nibs are hard as a rock. the TWSBI nib has some (compared to my Safari/CP1 – a lot) flex to it which makes writing a lot smoother, at least for me… ink flow is a bit on the wetter side but not too wet. right now it is the best steel nib i ever experienced on a fountain pen.
loaded with diamine – majestic purple, it’s just a joy to write with this pen.
i highly recommend this pen…
