TWSBI ECO Fountain Pen –Â White
A relatively new release, the TWSBI ECO Fountain Pen has become a staple for many a fountain pen user since it first became available in 2015. ECO is short for “Economical”, and this pen is a prime example of value for money. TWSBI took input from the fountain pen community, specifically to create an affordable pen with premium performance and features. The result is a simple, yet extremely effective workhorse pen that’s great for not only beginners, but more experienced users too.
With a perfectly cylindrical, clear body, and a distinctive hexagonal cap and piston knob, this pen has an unmistakable design. The white accents really make it pop. Fill it with any blue ink would make for a great daily writer, although an orange ink would have a great visual effect.
As a piston filler, it has a truly massive ink capacity. This pen will keep going for pages on end, especially with a finer nib. The piston filler may seem intimidating to those unfamiliar, but it is as easy to use as a converter. Simply dip it into the ink and turn the knob.
It fits comfortably in the hand, and it posts securely and comfortably.
TWSBI encourages user maintenance, with the ECO being easy to take apart, clean, and put back together.
The pen comes in a plastic gift box with instructions in addition to a plastic wrench and silicone grease.

I received my Eco this morning, so here are my first impressions:
What an incredible pen for that price! I own a number of expensive pens (Pelikan M1000, Omas Paragon + 360 Vintage etc. etc.), but this pen is amazing (at less than a 10th of the price!) . If all pens would write like this out of the box…
The pen is well built, the piston filler works like a dream. It holds a LOT of ink, which is great, because I am looking to use this pen on the go (with no travelling inkwell…). But it’s the nib that impresses me most: no skips, no hard starts, good flow, just a perfect fine line! I’ve got Rohrer & Klingner Permanent Blue in there, and the ink looks great in the demonstrator!
So all in all a highly recommended pen! Well done TWSBI!

I received mine today and instantly got it going with the diamine ink sample I received with it. I’m loving the stub 1.1 nib as I enjoy italic writing, an excellent writing experience for a left hander.

Really amazing pen for the price. The build quality feels premium and even though it is plastic, it feels robust. The piston works flawlessly. The included wrench and silicon grease means you can service it yourself in the future.
A comment on the nib though, the fine is smooth with some feedback on cheaper paper. The fine is akin to Lamy’s extra-fine nibs.
The nib has no hard starts or any skips whatsoever and the feed keeps up with the fastest of writing. I think I will opt for a medium nib in my next TWSBI pen in the hopes that it is more comparable to the Lamy fine.
Definitely recommended – the prefect next level pen after pens like the Jinhao x750, Lamy Safari and Pilot Metropolitan.

I’ve had mine for 5 months and it’s my favourite pen to use. The 1.1 Stub nib is a joy to write with and the variations in line thickness make even the dullest and dreariest of notes pleasant to read.
The capacity of the piston filler is a massive plus, as is being able to show off your inks. If you completely disassemble it for cleaning, it can be a little tricky to reassemble, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube showing you how step-by-step.
If I could only own one fountain pen, this would be it.

I absolutely love the TWSBI ECO, I have three and that should tell you how much.
I pen looks and feels like quality, the piston filler works well and the amount of ink in the pen is very good, you won’t run out quickly.
If there was another start I would add it.

What can be said about the TWSBI Eco that hasn’t been said already, except that all the reviews are right. This pen is an absolute pleasure to write with, and I’m a big fan of the piston filling mechanism (and the resultant joys of being able to fully dismantle and clean out the pen). In this particular case the white colouring creates a lovely contrast between the pen and whatever ink it’s currently loaded with. I purchased the medium nib, and it has a very wet flow which makes it great for shading inks. The only real peril here is trying to rein in the urge to buy more TWSBI ECO’s with alternative nib sizes..

I am very satisfied with this buy. I’ve even convinced a friend to get one too. It’s an interesting design and takes loads of ink. I like that I can see how much ink is in there. I’ve had many compliments from work colleagues. The nib size I may have gotten wrong, but it writes very well indeed. The coolest thing is that it comes with it’s own tools! A job done well from a company that previously made nibs for other pen manufacturers.
