Robert Oster Signature Fountain Pen Ink Bottle – Purple Rock
The journey of Robert Oster Signature Fountain Pen Inks began in 1989. Originating in the wine-country of Coonawarra district in South Australia, Robert Oster Inks have grown to become a leader in the Fountain Pen ink market across the globe. They can be found in stores from Australia to Canada, Europe to USA and now finally in Africa at Write GEAR. Nature is at the core of Mr Robert Oster’s inspiration for his inks. The inks are completely nature friendly and while the bottles are plastic, they are 100% recyclable.
The inks come in a 50ml plastic bottle. A healthy helping of ink to keep your pen filled for quite some time.

I expected to love this but I find it boring and the variations in its performance are strange and sometimes annoying. It looks quite grey as you write, but it dries to the dusty purple you see pictured. As someone who likes to observe the flow of the ink on the page, this puts me off, and I find that it’s a nice colour to read, but not a colour I want to write with.
I tried it on a variety of papers. It looks lovely on ivory Munken 90gsm, where you see less grey and more saturated purple. It looks TERRIBLE on super smooth white Hi Q matte paper, where it somehow dries to a rotting-zombie grey. Every other ink I’ve used pops on this paper, so the Purple Rock came as a shock. On other papers from cheap to high-end, it was average. Eventually I dumped the remaining ink back into the sample tube and set it aside. I’ll consider using it again if I have the kind of ivory paper that it can show off on.

I have to agree with the other review about the dirty grey with hints of purple. A bit disappointing. Perhaps my taste lies with more vibrant purples.
