Here’s a word from the founder of PaiZley about their pen Rolls:
Being fountain pen nerds, we love carrying multiple fountain pens with us for taking notes in meetings, writing in our journals and diaries on the go, and generally going about our daily lives. Traditional pen protection is usually designed for a small number of fountain pens. We, however, love having each fountain pen inked up with a different colour ~ that is the point of a fountain pen, right? We have tried a variety of traditional pencil cases but found that our precious fountain pens were rubbing against each other and getting damaged in the process.
The other thing about being a fountain pen nerd is that you can’t just have one fountain pen. There are just so many attractive and stylish styles and colours, and those sneaky FP manufacturers come out with unique editions every year, so our collection just seems to keep growing and growing. To exacerbate these problems we face, each FP comes in its own beautiful box, which, as you know is a different size for every make and model. Sadly it is not feasible, nor possible, to grow our home to accommodate all of our new additions.
Even though we have seen some wonderful storage cases for fountain pens, it is difficult to carry around a big box with each pen in its own slot, which then goes flying and knocking into its neighbours as the box gets moved and jostled.
Enter the PaiZley.
Each PaiZley is lovingly handmade here in South Africa with a hard-wearing denim outer layer, that, as your favourite pair of jeans will testify, can withstand a lot of use. The inside layers are made of pocketed silky soft satin that will not scratch or scuff your fountain pens, whilst providing them with their own form of “social distancing”. An inner padding layer reduces the effects of everyday bumps and knocks. The pockets are quite deep, so, depending on the length, make and model of fountain pen, the entirety of the pen will be covered. There is a flap that will cover the exposed tops of the fountain pens together with a long tie to secure the PaiZley when it is rolled up, keeping the contents safe and sound. Once the PaiZley is rolled up and tied, the penrolls tend to all be a similar height and width, which makes storing the penrolls, and the growing collection of fountain pens contained in them, that much easier.
Oh, we should point out, that as the PaiZley is handmade, there are a limited number of each design and colour combination. We suggest that if you like them, buy them while you can.
Now, lastly, the PaiZley is not just for fountain pens. We have heard of people using the PaiZley penroll for ball-point pens, pencils, markers, paint brushes, reading glasses and even, drum roll please, crochet needles. We love multi-use products.
Now, if we could only figure out a way to do the same for our ink collection.
