Can you improve on a classic? Kaweco definitely has, buy this pen if you are a lover of beautiful and timeless design.
Brass is a material that looks great with or without the patina, and this particular Kaweco will age and improve alongside you in a way that is unique to any other Kaweco Brass sport out there.
Many hours of contemplation and self examination by the designers and engineers at Kaweco have made this particular iteration of the Sport into a truly practical design classic. An extremely nice touch is the heavy duty plastic inner sleeve of the cap which is there to protect the barrel from scratches when posted. I also appreciated the beautifully executed solid metal Kaweco logo crowning the cap. The added heft provides a welcome and satisfying confidence to an already rewarding writing experience.
I may carry other pens into the field with me, but this is the pen that I actively look forward to using at least once a day.

Beautiful brass pen that looks better the more it gets used. It is short and probably needs to be used with the cap in the posted position, though I prefer using it without. It is nice and compact and easy to carry around. It is not as smooth as the similar priced TSWBI Diamond 580 and therefore looses a star but there is little else to complain about.

Brass is not for everyone. It reacts to my skin and tarnishes very badly. It makes my hands smell a bit after a while. The build quality is amazing though.

I love this pen. I find myself holding it constantly while I’m thinking. I love the way the brass smells on my hands. I find the medium nib smooth, and it writes quite nice and wet. It has a comforting weight in my hand or my pocket. I chose it specifically because I wanted a pen I can toss into the bottom of a backpack or put in my jeans pocket with my keys. I’ve had mine a few days and I’m loving the patina that is already developing from constantly being in my hand. The pen is beautifully made and finished, I look for reasons to use it. I find it comfortable to write with either posted or unposted.

Awesome pen. Great design, solid construction and a smooth writing experience. Writegear also has a number of nib options which are very easy to change.

I started with a run-of-the-mill medium Pilot fountain pen, adding the Lamy Joy (1.5 mm) and the Lamy LX to my collection.
The fountain pen bug had bitten me. After doing some research, I came across the Kaweco Brass sport; the perfect pocket pen, with enough character and quality of craftsmanship to keep me going. I was worried about all of the bad reviews Kaweco’s nibs have received over the years, so I held my breath as I waited for my EF-nibbed Kaweco to arrive.
Thankfully, It finally arrived, beautifully packaged in a fittingly vintage metal box, and the stunning brass pen tucked inside.
I inked it up, primed the feed and immediately, some of the smoothest writing I’ve experienced from a pen without a gold nib. I might say in fact, that it wrote better than the Lamy Dialog 3 that I had the privilege of testing out a few weeks prior. Yes, they are two pens that were crafted to suit different functions, but there is no denying that this Kaweco has the ability to stand up amongst many other Gold-Nibbed heavyweights.
It has a substantial heft to it, but not one that will seem to tire me out after prolonged writing. I mainly use my fountain pens when I am studying for my varsity modules, and I can’t wait to write with this pen on a long studying stint and see what its made of!
Just a little tip for any of you readers that do go to varsity, or are studying for any upcoming tests:
I’ve found that if you pick up a pen you really enjoy writing with, you tend to retain the work trying to memorise. I can only attribute this interesting happening to the fact that you will be staring at your vastly improved handwriting for much longer than you would have with a regular ballpoint! 😉
I would strongly advise any of you contemplating whether you should buy this pen or not, to take the leap of faith, and enjoy the brilliant product that Kaweco has produced!

This is the most amazing pen – especially in brass.
For me the weight, colour, patina and smell of the brass is part of the experience of writing with it. It always reminds me of the brass instruments my sailor grandfather used to have in his home and on his boat.
Its small and tough. The lid screws on so it will never come off and cause an ink incident! Its small size means its easily slipped into my bag pocket so I have it with me everywhere I go for notes or more formal letters.
Whenever I take it out at meetings people comment on it and it becomes an item of interest and conversation. You don’t often find craftsmanship of this quality and design. I highly recommend this pen.

A really nice, bold pen which made for the perfect gift for a 60th birthday. I got this for my father-in-law who was a tradesman who moved to an office job – a sophisticated yet manly pen was what the Kaweco Brass portrayed itself to be.
The fine nib writes well, and he uses it everyday to write his reports and says he loves the pen.
The only con to this pen is the size of the converter. But the trade is worth it because the pen is perfectly balanced when posted with the cap. The pen is the perfect size when posted.
