Faber-Castell LOOM Fountain Pen – Metalic Grey
The Faber-Castell Loom writing implements impress with their classic colours and modern design. The wide range of material combinations – metallic or in piano varnish look – make the writing implements in the Loom range varied and memorable. A matt-chrome handle highlights the rich colours of the Loom Metallic.

My second-favourite steel nib! However, Faber-Castell’s pen designs can be a little idiosyncratic.
The shiny (finger-smudge magnet…) chrome finish is better for grip than the matte finish; the raised rings help and provide “grip feedback” but I think some may find them uncomfortable over longer periods. About 1 cm shorter than average and just a little nose-heavy, both aspects improved by posting but unfortunately with my hands the position of the cap is uncomfortable.
However, the nib is excellent. Aesthetically handsome, quite stiff, nicely smooth yet with a pleasant type of tactile feedback—is it the dimpled pattern embossed on the nib that affects its stiffness somehow, or something about the pen body?
I have two (EF and B) and both are neither too wet nor too dry and notable for having the most consistent ink flow of any standard-international cartridge pens I’ve tried. Also: they seem to have better-than-average cap seal.
For the price, a darn good pen. One star docked for that sharpish edge on the cap ring which precludes me from posting.
