This is an ink that every fountain pen user should own. Or at least have some kind of actual permanent ink.
This is called registrars ink as it’s formulation, or variant thereof, is used by clergy and registrars of the courts due to its permanence.
The ink is waterproof, permanent and pretty much forgery proof. Upon first hitting the page, the ink comes out as a light blue black but later dries to a grey in dry pens and blackest black in wet pens. It gets darker over time so you will even notice a difference a day or even a week later after writing something. This is a dry ink that dries quickly so it’s great for wet writing pens and cheap paper. Perfect for cheques, writing addresses on envelopes and ensuring your writing stays permanent.
I use this ink for my study notes and work documents, so it sees a fair bit of use.
It must be noted that due to the iron gall content, which makes the ink permanent, this ink is also very acidic and will stain certain plastics and metal over time such as converters and piston fillers; I am not sure if glass will also be stained. Gold or gold plated nibs will be fine as they are not affected by corrosion but steel nibs will need extra care. The acidity of the ink will slowly corrode the metal over time if you don’t flush out your pen with water once a week. Also, due to its water proof features, the ink will require extra effort in cleaning out if you want to swap ink colours in your pen, I haven’t had any problems or put that much extra time into cleaning than normal. The ink binds to the actual cellulose fibers in paper to make it permanent so be careful not to get any on your clothes.

This is a great ink for writing in all situations. I really love the blue-black change over time, and how well behaved this ink is on any paper without any feathering etc.
My only complaint was the clogging in my Pilot MR with M nib. In the inks defence, I was only using the pen every other week. I think that if used every day it will be fine.
When its back in stock I want to try it in my Lamy Safari M nib.

Great ink for writing on cheap paper, and properly waterproof as well. It’s a bit on the pricier side, especially when R&K Salix performs just as well and dries to a nicer blue.

This ink is great on the cheap paper we have at work. It’s archival and will probably last longer than the paper it’s on. I love the colour change when it dries. I prefer this to Salix, as it is less blue.

The best blue/black ink on the market. Writes a light delicate grey/blue then dries to sexified deep blue/black. Ink should be permanent so it’s a logical choices. Just clean your pen regularly and the iron will have no gall staying around.
