Diamine Fountain Pen Ink – Red Dragon
Originating in the 1800’s, Diamine Ink has a long history and has been developed into one of the finest quality fountain pen inks on the market. It’s reliability has lead it to become one of the most sought after inks by both professionals and beginners. This Diamine Red Dragon Ink is suitable for any brand of fountain pens, making it a convenient purchase too. It is a water-based non-toxic ink, making it a safe option for vintage pens in particular. The deep red dragon colour of this ink is not overly saturated and thus has a beautiful vibrancy to it. It is also versatile in the sense that it has the ability to be easily mixed with other colour inks and create new colours. This Diamine ink also has anti-clogging properties, ensuring even and smooth precision across paper.

Currently my third favorite ink after J.Herbins 1970’s. This is my perfect red, dark and vampy but clearly still red – and the name just makes me love it more. Super saturated, doesn’t lean towards browns or pinks, just dark dark red. Wish I bought the 80ml bottle first time around.

A perfect red. The colour is very deep, but the colour is still definitively red. Just dark enough to avoid seeming garish. This ink is VERY wet, so be mindful of bleed-through on cheaper paper and long drying times on high quality paper.

I bought the ink becausecompared to the Diamine Oxblood I felt it leaned more towards red than brown, a more “fresh blood on paper” look and it certainly is. The ink is wet, the good kind, so it looks like a deep, dark red. For a fresher blood look i’Ve been looking at the KWZ Thief’s Red, which is a more true red without the brown undertones of the Red Dragon.

This is a very saturated wet ink. I find it to be a pretty dark red.
Being so wet you need to be careful of the pen/paper combo you use it with. A wet pen on bad paper is a bit of a nightmare (massive feathering and bleed though).
I haven’t noticed any issues with this drying out in uncapped pens.
This is definitely one my favorite red inks and I highly recommend it.

I can agree that the ink is wet and does not like ordinary office paper. I got considerable bleed through and feathering with it on such paper. The colour is pretty nice — deep, dark red. Quite a sophisticated red, if you can say that. If you have good paper, I can recommend it!

This is one of the first red inks in my collection. The writes with a medium flow feeling and is wet on the paper. The colour is not garish and definitely leans away from your schoolmarm’s marking pen. A nice deep red.

Red Dragon is a superb deep red. It writes smooth and dries well.

I used this ink initially with a brush and found it very dark – shouldn’t have waited so long to put it in a pen.
Wow, the surprising part is its got a really good writing feel, very good flow and has a striking red once dried. Even though very wet it dries very quickly. Definitely think this will be on my most used list as the writing feel is super pleasurable. (Used a M Lamy steel nib for testing)

This is a beautiful dark red, very wet and goes nicely with my Pilot Metropolitan. One of my absolute favourites.
