Capstan Inkwell – Pewter (1920 – 1950)
Crafted somewhere between 1920 and 1950, this capstan inkwell would have been found in the middle of a large desk shared by several people. It features five holes in which quills/dip-pens would be stored when not in use. In the centre you will find a small ceramic inkwell into which the days ink would be decanted for use.
The pewter construction gains a unique patina as it ages, this rich patina on the pewter adds character, telling a story of decades gone by. There are some minor dents and scratches on the surface however it is fully functional. There is a small lid that flips down to cover the ceramic inkwell when not in use.
The Capstan Inkwell is more than just a vintage artefact, it’s a functional tool for those who appreciate the art of writing. Its generous well accommodates your favourite inks, providing a steady and reliable source for your pen. Whether you’re an avid calligrapher, a collector of vintage items, or someone who appreciates the finer things in life, this inkwell is sure to become a cherished piece in your space.
