Rohrer & Klingner Ink – Scabiosa
Rohrer & Klingner continues its long tradition in producing inks with this assortment which also includes ferro-gallic inks.
In addition to the classic colors, there are now new colour tones which were developed specifically with calligraphy in mind. Rohrer’s writing inks are perfect for fountain pens, steel nibbed pens, dip pens and other writing utensils which are used in calligraphy. Pleasant, high-quality dyes which are processed into the individual tones reveal a balanced intensity of colours in addition to the high brilliance in the ink.

Dark eggplant purple that’s slightly dusky and also waterproof. Excellent shading – love this one.

This ink works very well with bold nibs and with dip pens. The ink pools just enough at the end of writing stokes to create a cool visual effect. The start of the stroke appears light purple/blue and end is dark purple/black. This adds amazing texture.

The ink goes down as a rich purple which then oxidizes to a black-purple.
After writing 40+ pages with it immediately after inking up my pen this has now become my new daily ink.
There is no bleed through or feathering on cheap exampad/copier paper and the ink color is distinctive but still looks professional.

I tried a sample of this ink in both my Lamy safari M and Pilot MR M. The ink performed brilliantly with fast dry times on both copy and notebook paper. No feathering or bleedthrough on my side.
This was a definite cure ink for my Lamy which was writing too wet for my liking. I also noticed that this ink performs better than the Diamine Registrar’s blue-black in the Lamy in that it is drier.
Excellent ink and the colour is really sublime if you like purple!

Great ink! One of my favourites, it just has so much going for it:
Waterproof
Great on all papers
Nice dusty dark purple once dry
Well priced
Can be a bit more difficult to clean out though, so maybe clean your pen a bit more regularly.
