An incredibly well constructed exceptional writing instrument, especially considering it’ll cost you less than 500 bucks!

The colour in the illustration is quite accurate of what the Black Purple looks like in person, albeit missing the aluminium shininess. If you’re a fan of purple, I think you will really like this. The purple looks darker and more interesting in certain angles and the different sides of the Al-Star’s barrel emphasise this. I decided to go for an EF nib – for me it’s a little scratchy and a bit too fine, but some may like this. I’ve recently replaced it with an italics nib as I’ve heard really great things about them. Do take note though, that the Al-Stars (being out of aluminium) do scratch. Extra care should be taken with them. Unless you think that the scratches add to the character/individual personalisation of the pen, I wouldn’t recommend throwing it around with other pens/keys/etc.
