TWSBI ECO Fountain Pen –Â Black
A relatively new release, the TWSBI ECO Fountain Pen has become a staple for many a fountain pen user since it first became available in 2015. ECO is short for “Economical”, and this pen is a prime example of value for money. TWSBI took input from the fountain pen community, specifically to create an affordable pen with premium performance and features. The result is a simple, yet extremely effective workhorse pen that’s great for not only beginners, but more experienced users too.
With a perfectly cylindrical, clear body, and a distinctive hexagonal cap and piston knob, this pen has an unmistakable design. The black accents make this a very versatile pen. Fill it with any blue ink would make for a great daily writer, although a green ink would have a great visual effect.
As a piston filler, it has a truly massive ink capacity. This pen will keep going for pages on end, especially with a finer nib. The piston filler may seem intimidating to those unfamiliar, but it is as easy to use as a converter. Simply dip it into the ink and turn the knob.
It fits comfortably in the hand, and it posts securely and comfortably.
TWSBI encourages user maintenance, with the ECO being easy to take apart, clean, and put back together.
The pen comes in a plastic gift box with instructions in addition to a plastic wrench and silicone grease.

I ordered a TWSBI Eco Black – Medium Nib. It was my first fountain pen. I read great reviews of the Eco on the internet. So I decided that for my first pen I should probably not buy something too expensive.
But the Eco has been such a suprise. I am looking for a reason to write. The piston mechanism works amazing and is easy to use.
The service I received from Write Gear was also very good.
Thumbs up all around!

I love this fountain pen! I ordered it in a bold nib and it has been a smooth pleasure to write with from the first word.
Paired with excellent service from Writegear, an all round winner online purchase

Awesome pen. Write very smooth and consistent. Great design. I really like the transparent barrel section. Has a huge ink reserve and the pen can be taken apart for maintenance.

I ordered this pen with the Fine Nib. The service was excellent!
The pen is second only to a much more expensive fountain pen that I own and a great deal better than any one of the other 4 fountain pens – 2 of which are more expensive – that I own. I would most definitely recommend this pen.

I love TWSBI! This is the third one I have and it is a brilliant writer. The extra ink volume means you can use this for heavy duty writing (study notes, journalling, writing). Highly recommend this pen as an intro to fountain pen writing. Ink flow on the 1.1 nib is generous so would recommend this on fountain pen friendly / thicker paper. Rhodia works well with it too.

What an exceptional pen for the price!
I bought the TWSBI Eco Black in an Extra Fine mainly for art. I’m not much of a writer, mainly because most of my time using pens is spent drawing with them. So take my review as someone who has spent many hours using pens to the extreme to complete large drawings.
The performance of this pen is excellent, it’s smooth writer and the steel nib is consistent without any skipping problems(keep in mind I have an extra fine) The extra fine is a traditional western extra fine and and in comparison to Japanese sizing it’s probably a fine. The nib does have the slightest bit of flex to it, and does pretty well with reverse writing.
Overall the TWSBI Eco is sturdy, doesn’t feel cheap and is a workhorse of a pen. This is an easy pen to recommend to anyone new to fountain pens or as a daily driver for any enthusiast because of the reliability and excellent price.

My first fountain pen was a TWSBI. I own five TWSBIs and they are all brilliant pens for the price. The ECO is a piston filler demonstrator that holds a decent amount of ink. The fine steel nib writes really well and this is an all round great pen for everyday use.

Firstly, excellent service by Jamie and the team at Write Gear. Love the packaging and wrapping. Attention to detail is great. This pen is an instrument of beauty. Love the feel and look of it and as many other people have said it feels and looks like a more expensive pen. I ordered the 1.1 stub. First time for me. I write small but this is forcing me to write bigger and more legible. It writes smooth and no hiccups so gar. All and all a good looking pen that writes well.I think I will have to order the other colors in the eco range too.

Very good pen, quick delivery and great service through and through.
TWSBI Eco Black – Extra Fine nib was perfect for my smaller handwriting and has not smeared pages with ink.
