There is something so generous about this range of inks. Yes, the design and packaging is still pure industrial design Lamy and naming the inks after precious stones (c’mon people – millenials have stopped caring about diamonds and rubies many moons ago!) not exactly ground breaking. What are you getting though? A good quantity of really undeniably special ink. I literally played with this colour for an entire morning, not tiring of it’s entrancing secrectiveness. Put it in a pilot parallel (3.8mm) and see what happens. And it’s completely affordable.

The Lamy Azurite is a wonderfully saturated, dark purpleish-Tanzanite blue. When used with a broader/wetter nib (or in large swabs) on Tomoe River paper it has a fetching electric green sheen, but with a standard medium nib, or in more general writing on other paper the sheen doesn’t really occur. So if you purchased the ink primarily for its sheening properties (like I did), then I’d probably look elsewhere. But sheening aside, this is a great standard, and the colour is incredibly vibrant. I’ve been using it in my TWSBI Eco and it’s smooth as silk, with a nice wet flow, and is very attractive to write with.
