KWZ Fountain Pen Ink – El Dorado
El Dorado is one of the most attractive and appealing inks from KWZ, it is one of KWZ’s complex and interesting colors. El Dorado is a yellow-orange ink. On paper is appears more yellow with a slightly greenish tint and dries to a more orange color. The greenish tint is purely according to perception. KWZ El Dorado has an amazingly quick drying time which allows long writing sessions without any smudge on your paper, ensuring a high precision level. The shading of the ink gives a very interesting color to the ink, depending on the paper in use. It would look perfect on some of the Rhodia and TWSBI books which we stock. It has anti-clogging properties which makes the ink not to easily dry out inside the pen and allows a crispy clean writing experience. It is well compatible even with your vintage pens, and goes very well with piston fillersÂ

I got this ink as a substitution for the bottle of Noodler’s Apache Sunset that I accidently forgot to order recently and though it doesnt quite have the marvelous shading capabilities of the Noodler’s, it is still a great ink.Need I mention that is vanilla scented too, though it isn’t sold as such. The in lays down as a yellow-golden colour but dries to appear more golden-brown. On cheap, untreated paper like Moleskine it does not shade much at all but on Clairefontaineor Rhodia paper it shines. Yellow where the ink is spread thin and gold reminscent of the name sake mystery city El Dorado where it pools at the end of strokes (note that the gold tones only appear on some medium and most broad nibs, on anything else its just yellow.) I’ll still be getting the Noodler’s Apache Sunset though

I was also looking for an Noodler’s Apache Sunset alternative, and while this is a nice ink it’s definitely a lot more muted than I was expecting, and more of a brownish-yellow colour overall. I’d say it’s pretty similar to Diamine Autumn Oak, with more of a yellowish undertone, and while it does have some nice shading, I personally wasn’t a huge fan of the colour overall.
If you’re looking for looking for something more vibrant in the yellow-orange colour range I’d say Robert Oster’s Peach, and Noodler’s Apache Sunset are still the best options.

Great vibrant coloured ink at a really good value.
It shades gorgeously and is well behaved in all my pens.
The only personal problem that I have with the ink is that I really don’t like the smell of the additives in the pen. Some says it smells like vanilla but I just don’t really like the smell.
Of course this is no reason not to buy the ink and I will definitely reorder this ink when I run out.

My absolute favourite favourite of all the golden yellow inks that I have. It works great in flex nibs with no railroading because of the wetness of KWZ inks. the shading is magnificent. KWZ inks are incredible value for money.
