If I’m honest, initially I was very skeptical – a Chinese fountain pen for R99 – surely this would not be a good buy. But nonetheless, for R99 you don’t have have anything to lose so I took a chance. For R99, this pen is great – nice and sturdy. It is a nice, heavy pen – contributing to a feel of good quality – you are holding something solid in your hand. The nib is great and also overall, a good looking pen. For those looking into getting into the world of fountain pens, I would say it is a great start and you won’t be disappointed. I’ve already bought 2 more for gifts. Don’t be fooled by that stereotypical saying of “Cheap Chinese Junk” because the Jinhao is far from that. Impressed.

This beautiful pen really did impress me with it’s classic look. It truly looks like a luxury product regardless of the price. The nib is beautifully decorated which is something I always gravitate towards. My only issue with it is that it writes rather wet and I had issues with it accepting my international standard cartridges (Schneider, Kaweco, etc) I was surprised by the inclusion of cartridges as well as a converter which is certainly good value. Perhaps it was just my pen, or just me being pedantic. Overall a beautiful product that writes well on more robust paper.

Affordable price and a nice entry into fountain pens. I have noticed that the clip has damaged the body of the pen over time, by removing the white colour and exposing the steel body underneath (not unexpected for the price though). Not as smooth a writer as other pens from the same manufacturer.

Have a few Jinhao’s and bought this one for my wife – filled with Diamine Asa Blue or Red Dragon it is really nice. Be reminded – all Jinhao’s I have are ‘Wet” writers but really fun – Number 6 nib is a nice touch.

This pen is perfect for a beginner like me. The price is great. The pen itself is a good weight and feels solid. It comes with an inverter so all you need additional is ink and you are ready to write. It’s a pity it’s only available in one size nib, but I enjoy the nib size. It allows for the ink colour to really come through nicely.

I’ve owned this pen for almost 3 years now and I absolutely adore it.
It’s a reliable writer, has a noticeable heft and hand feel and performs very well considering the price.
This is one of my go to pens and has never given me any grief considering that it may be at the lower end of the spectrum in terms of prices.
A must own for all collectors or enthusiasts. A true workhorse and reliable pen

I bought three of these in different colours. That’s how great they are. Heavy in the hand and very smooth writing. It’s a wet writer, but that’s expected for a medium nib on an Asian pen. A good first fountain pen for those nervous to try.
