The 1670 Collection celebrates the rich life and adventures of J. Herbin, an enterprising French sailor of the mid-17th century. He made a number of voyages to India, collecting ingredients and formulas for his sealing wax and inks. He began making pen inks in his Paris workshop beginning in 1700 with the “Ink of Ships” and the “Jewel of Inks.” Today, Herbin inks are widely used and internationally renown.

I had seen quite a few reviews about this ink online before and was intrigued. This ink certainly lives up to the hype. I’m using it on Rhodia paper and the sparkle is consistent, while the underlying blue/green ink is rich and dark. An exceptional ink.

The ‘Emeraude de Chivor’ ink is one with true personality. The colour of green/turquoise shades deeply. The ink is most beautiful when loaded in a ‘wet’ writing pen.
Drying time is quite average. It does not dry out on uncapped pens however.
Worth the price.
