The Essentio fixes the two ergonomic issues I have with the Loom—the balance (unposted) is better and I prefer the straight grip to the Loom’s barrel-curve grip. (Note that the grooves on the section can trap ink when filling from a bottle, causing inky fingers.)
Posting makes the pen look ludicrously long but doesn’t actually throw off the balance much—the cap is very light, and those with larger hands and that hold the pen farther back on the (generously long) section may then find the balance perfect. Then there is that gratifying *pop* when pulling the cap off the back…
Of course, there’s that excellent nib and the nicely consistent feed. This doesn’t *quite* have that magic/X-factor writing-feel to it that the Loom does for me but I find it the overall better pen.
