Diamine Fountain Pen Ink – Sargasso Sea
Originating in the 1800’s, Diamine Ink has a long history and has been developed into one of the finest quality fountain pen inks on the market. It’s reliability has lead it to become one of the most sought after inks by both professionals and beginners. This Diamine Sargasso Sea Ink is suitable for any brand of fountain pens, making it a convenient purchase too. It is a water-based non-toxic ink, making it a safe option for vintage pens in particular. The Sargasso Sea colour of this ink is not overly saturated and thus has a beautiful vibrancy to it. It is also versatile in the sense that it has the ability to be easily mixed with other colour inks and create new colours. This Diamine ink also has anti-clogging properties, ensuring even and smooth precision across paper.

This is my favourite blue ink. One of the best blues available from Diamine. Tried it in a Lamy Al-Star with a Medium and Fine Nib. The flow is well suited to both but I prefer the Medium nib. Overall an excellent ink for everyday use, packaged in the classic Diamine ink bottle. Similar to Lamy Blue when used on Rhodia paper with a larger degree of shading.

Miracle of miracles, this ink actually works on Moleskine paper (with a medium nib no less!) and doesn’t devolve into a horrible speckled mess like most inks do on that paper. I’ve used it on Paper Blanks, Rhodia, and several other paper types, and thus far it behaves well on everything and has zero feathering even on more absorbent paper. The colour itself is a bright saturated blue (with a bit of a dark purple sheen on fancy paper) that is very appealing, and is great for general use. Overall it’s a nice sturdy blue to add to the collection.

This is one of my favourite blue inks. It has shading as well as some sheen. It is slightly lighter than Diamine’s majestic blue. A nice upbeat blue for everyday use and in the office.

This is a beautiful, vibrant, deep royal blue with a wide range of tones when diluted to use as a wash in ink paintings.
Despite it’s vibrancy it’s minimally staining which is great if you like lifting colour in your paintings to create highlights or lighter areas.
