Diamine Fountain Pen Ink – Ancient Copper
Originating in the 1800’s, Diamine Ink has a long history and has been developed into one of the finest quality fountain pen inks on the market. It’s reliability has lead it to become one of the most sought after inks by both professionals and beginners. This Diamine Ancient Copper Ink is suitable for any brand of fountain pens, making it a convenient purchase too. It is a water-based non-toxic ink, making it a safe option for vintage pens in particular. The ancient copper colour of this ink is not overly saturated and thus has a beautiful depth to it. It is also versatile in the sense that it has the ability to be easily mixed with other colour inks and create new colours. This Diamine ink also has anti-clogging properties, ensuring even and smooth precision across paper.

My favorite ink.
Such gorgeous shading.
Tones of orange, red to brown come through with a flex nib

I received a bottle of this ink from a colleague, who is a regular customer of writegear. I has become one of my favourite inks. The colour makes a statement. It flows perfectly from several of my pens. One of the best features to me is that it hardly feathers on sub-grade paper. I use it as a regular ink. I can highly recommend this ink if the hue appeals to you

This is one of my favourite inks in the reds. Reddish brown, perhaps red with a brown tinge, the colour is aptly named. It writes red, but dries to a pleasant copper colour. This is another ink I would recommend for a small collection.

Absolutely love this deep red brown! It creates beautiful dark skintones when used in ink paintings, and the I love using a diluted wash to add a blush to lighter skin tones.

All the Diamine inks that I have used so far are wet, high pigment and smooth flowing inks, but this is my favourite. It has a strong red-brown colour almost like dried blood, but when you wash it down with a paintbrush and water it reveals a vibrant series of hues down to an almost yellow wash. If you are drawing pen and ink type drawings with this it is a joy to work with.

This is the first ink I’ve ever Paine alongside the Prussian Blue, and I gotta say I’m not disappointedly, in fact I chose to ink up my vintage Parker fountain pen passed down by my father to this ink, although I personally feel that a medium nib get the best out of this ink…

A beautiful in with a sheen like the sunset! Definitely one of my favourites, especially in my Kaweco Sport with a medium nib.

Like with every Diamine ink I’ve tried so far, it performs really well in every pen I’ve put it in. Super reliable, affordable and great value for the price!
But the compliments don’t stop there, this is quite possibly my favourite ink colour of all time. It’s so rich, warm and earthy, shades so beautifully and just POPS off the page! This would be the first ink I recommend to anyone.
So if you’re on the fence or unsure, don’t be! It’s lovely and comes in a very convenient smaller plastic bottle if you feel that 80ml is too much or if you want to have it on the go and not worry about the glass shattering! And this is true for most of Diamines inks.
